FAQ'S
WHAT CALIBER ARE THE PEPPER BALLS?
WHAT CALIBER ARE THE PEPPER BALLS?
The Byrna HD is an incredibly powerful and effective non-lethal self-defense weapon that can be taken virtually anywhere. Powered by compressed air (CO2), the Byrna HD shoots .68 caliber round kinetic and chemical irritant projectiles that can disable a threat from up to 60-feet away.
HOW STABLE ARE THE PROJECTILES
HOW STABLE ARE THE PROJECTILES
Our chemical projectiles are the best on the market. Unfortunately, with ALL chemical projectiles, there is always a slight risk of the projectiles cracking in the magazine or launcher. The chemical rounds have to be fragile or they would never break when hitting an assailant but also need to be strong enough to survive being fired from the launcher.
Exposing any chemical projectiles to excess impact, vibration, extreme temperature conditions, or even overhandling the projectiles could potentially cause them to crack or break. Please also note we do not recommend a 5 +1 or 7 + 1 setup where six or eight total rounds are in the launcher. The launcher is designed to hold 5/7 rounds. Although the extra 6th/8th round will sometimes fit in the launcher, this will cause the launcher to jam and can cause the projectiles to rupture when stored, carried, or fired.
Our chemical projectiles are preferred by many Law Enforcement Agencies and Private Security Companies due to their high quality and durability. We now manufacture our projectiles in house to have even more control over quality. We have made them stronger to survive the shot but also easier to break when they strike a target while having a better dispersion pattern of the chemical irritants due to the improved shell design.
We are aware of the unpleasant nature of the irritant rounds, and we are sorry if you were accidentally exposed. You can also dispose of the broken projectiles in your normal trash if wrapped in plastic.
CAN I ALTERNATE BETWEEN KINETIC AND PEPPER PROJECTILES IN A MAGAZINE?
CAN I ALTERNATE BETWEEN KINETIC AND PEPPER PROJECTILES IN A MAGAZINE?
Byrna recommends loading your magazine with all of the same type of projectiles. This is just to ensure that no confusion could come from not knowing if the next round is a chemical round or a non-chemical round for safety purposes.
WHAT IS CALIBER OF THE PROJECTILES?
WHAT IS CALIBER OF THE PROJECTILES?
The caliber of our projectiles are .68 caliber unless otherwise noted.
WHAT IS THE TEMPERATURE RATINGS ON THE PEPPERBALLS?
WHAT IS THE TEMPERATURE RATINGS ON THE PEPPERBALLS?
We do not recommend leaving your launcher in a vehicle as the extreme heat and cold can cause your projectiles, CO2 cartridges and launcher to not perform correctly. It can very easily exceed or drop below the safe temperature range inside a vehicle. The safe temperature range is 0 degrees F to 120 degrees F.
